The Traverse City Track Club Bayshore was started in 1983 by a group of volunteers who wanted to share with fellow runners the beauty of the Grand Traverse region. Since then, Bayshore has evolved into a respected and beloved event that has played an integral role in helping build a healthy, active running community through charitable giving. Bayshore is the primary revenue generator that funds all events, activities and programs of the Traverse City Track Club, which has now donated over $2 million to date.

This year, Traverse City Track Club has selected three local nonprofits to partner with in a brand new charity partner program. Participants, along with their families and friends, can now make donations or sign up to become fundraisers for one of our three charity partners - American Cancer Society (ACS), Food Rescue of the Goodwill Northern Michigan, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

To support this initiative, please select your chosen charity partner on our registration page, then choose to make a donation and/or sign up to become a fundraiser.

With your help, we can have a major positive impact on these nonprofit organizations, and throughout our community!

2024 Charity Partners

American Cancer Society

When you join DetermiNation, you’re not just participating in an endurance event. You’re pushing yourself to help save lives from cancer. Just like hard work goes into your event training, the American Cancer Society gives it our all through things like breakthrough research, patient programs and services, and a free 24/7 cancer helpline. Together, we’ll tackle every course, rally every community, and stay absolutely relentless in the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society has a few bibs available that guarantee your entry if a minimum amount is raised. Please contact Alexis for more information.

JDRF

JDRF is proud to be an official charity partner of the 2024 Bayshore Marathon. We invite you to either donate to JDRF or join Team JDRF as we go the distance to create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D)!

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research. Our strength lies in our exclusive focus and singular influence on the worldwide effort to end T1D. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent it. And, at present, there is no cure.

Besides donating to JDRF, runners can also join Team JDRF. This is your moment to fundraise and help turn type one into type none! As a Team JDRF participant, we’re committed to supporting you before and throughout the race weekend.

When you join Team JDRF at any package level, you will receive:

    Fundraising support
Incentives based on money you fundraise:
Raise $100 and receive the race day singlet
Raise $300 and receive the performance tee
A commitment from JDRF to keep working towards a cure!

Every step you take and every mile you run brings us closer to our ultimate finish line – a world without T1D!

JDRF has a few bibs available that guarantee your entry if a minimum amount is raised. For additional information regarding joining Team JDRF for the 2024 Bayshore Marathon, please email Lia at lbenn@jdrf.org

Food Rescue

Putting Good Food to Good Use

Food Rescue, a Goodwill Northern Michigan program, rescues, harvests, repacks, and distributes 2 million pounds of food annually — that’s $3.34 million worth of food! Each day, we bring 8,000lbs of food to more than 70 food pantries and community meal sites in the Northwest Food Coalition, and 42% of it is fruits and vegetables. We partner with 185 organizations to distribute food equitably across a rural five-county area twice the size of Rhode Island.

  • Food Rescue makes 275 deliveries a month to the pantries and meal sites of the Northwest Food Coalition, at no cost to the pantries.

  • 80% of the food we deliver is fresh and frozen bread, dairy, meat, fruits, and vegetables full of nutrients needed by children, seniors, and other neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

  • We do the logistics of the Coalition’s Farm2Neighbor program, distributing 125,000lbs of food that the pantries buy from local farms!
