Bayshore Race Rules

The Bayshore Event follows USA Track & Field (USATF) competition rules and is run on a USATF-certified course. These standards help ensure a fair, accurate, and high-quality experience for all participants. The complete USATF Rules are available at http://www.usatf.org.

1) Race Entry Transfer:  If you become injured or are no longer able to join us for Bayshore events you may transfer your entry to another person for a fee through the registration platform. Instructions can be found on the FAQ page.

IMPORTANT: This is the ONLY authorized way to transfer your entry to another person.

Running under another person’s name is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification/ jeopardize your participation in future Traverse City Track Club events. Entry fees are non-refundable. If you choose to transfer your entry to another person, you are responsible for arranging payment for the entry with the person you are transferring it to.

2) Race Refunds: It is up to the discretion of the Club, if for safety reasons the Race is converted to virtual, delayed, modified, postponed or cancelled. The Club does not provide for refunds for any reason including the event of cancellation, and by signing the waiver, participants are not entitled to a refund if the event is cancelled before or during the event.

3) Race Deferments: Deferments are not allowed except in very limited circumstances. However, registrants may transfer (for a fee) an entry to another runner before a deadline specified each year.

Pregnant and Postpartum athletes can request a deferral at: registration@bayshoremarathon.org

4) Course Traffic:  In areas where the race course is narrowed due to opposing traffic or course turns, participants are required to remain to the right of cones or course markers and to run no more than two abreast. The course is a USATF Certified course which is set up using the USATF certified map.

5) Bib Assignments: All runners must be officially registered and wear their assigned race bib. Any participant who finishes the race using a bib not assigned to them will be disqualified and barred from future Traverse City Track Club races. The individual who provided the unauthorized bib will also be prohibited from registering for future Traverse City Track Club events.

6) No Wheels or Animals on Course:  To ensure the safety of all participants, bicycles, skateboards, strollers, roller or inline skates, and animals are not permitted on the race course.

7) Outside Assistance:  Receiving food or drink from a non-official source (e.g., friend or family) is not allowed and considered outside assistance.
